NGO Donates Uniforms To Rural Children
A Washington-based NGO, The International Basketball Association (IBA) has donated school uniforms to a local school in Muranga to assist children from needy families attend school.
The donation was sent through a local institution, PCRD, to Kihuro Primary School in Murang'a recently.
During the presentation held at the school compound, John Gitonga, Director of PCRD, who presented the uniforms on behalf of IBA, challenged local corporate institutions to support such causes.
He said the money used to buy the uniforms was raised through the sale of second hand clothes at a store in Washington, DC by the IBA director's wife, Mrs. Uesa Robinson, who believes in supporting disadvantaged children to get education.
She has pledged to continue supporting such cases in future whenever an opportunity arises. The school's Head Teacher, Ms. Jedidah Cathage acknowledge the wonderful gift from IBA, noting that children will now perform even better as they are now more motivated.
She wished that the school could get more of such donations. The meeting was also attended by parents of children, the school management committee, teachers and the area zonal schools inspector.
